Frequently asked questions...

How old should my child be for an impression?

I can take impressions from all ages from newborns to Nanny’s and Grandads. It is never too late to capture the memory of your little, or not so little one. Young babies don’t have very defined fingerprints until they are about 1 year old so if you would like an item of silver fingerprint jewellery I would suggest waiting until then. That said even if their little lines are faint, your baby will still make their very own dimple print which is just as lovely and will be an everlasting memory of how small they once were. As an alternative which is a popular choice for parents of young babies up to at least 8 months old is to have their whole foot or hand print captured on a silver pendant or charm.

What can I expect during my casting session?

When we meet (either at my studio, your house or local venue) you will have an assortment of colours, sizes and shapes to choose from with the ceramic impressions, stone outprints and baby 3D castings, and a selection of jewellery samples to browse before making your choice. It only takes a few moments to take an impression from you or your child and you can have as many impressions as you would like during your appointment. Once the impressions are taken the remaining work is completed in my studio.

How long will it take to process my order?

To deliver the best quality product, your order will be completed within 2 weeks for the silver fingerprint jewellery and Pottery Prints and 4-6 weeks for the other baby keepsakes within the collection. As soon as your order is complete, I will notify you. Your order will be posted free of charge via Royal Mail registered/special delivery if it is silver jewellery. However due to the fragility of the Ceramic Impressions, Stone Imprints and framed baby 3D Castings, they need to be collected from my studio or I will deliver them back to the venue where the casting session took place.

Can you come to my house?

Yes. Please call me for those special occasions and circumstances such as christenings and birthdays etc and I will try and accommodate you where possible. Also you can host your own casting session over a coffee in the comfort of your own home. Simply invite your interested friends and their little ones for coffee, and I will explain the process while you can browse the various samples before having fun taking the prints. As an added bonus, the host will get 10% of the takings towards their own order. Call me for further details as I require a minimum number of 5 people.

Can I buy a gift voucher?

Yes. Gift vouchers are great for many occasions – baby showers, birthdays, christmas, anniversary presents, Mother’s and Father’s day, and for grandparents too. Either email or call and order over the telephone. These can be any amount you request and depending on your budget can be for the full/part payment from any of the items from the Sticky Prints collection.

Help... I need my order urgently!!!

If you have a special occasion coming up and need your Silver Fingerprint Jewellery or Pottery Prints order quicker than the 2 weeks specified please contact me and I will try my hardest to fulfill your needs. Unfortunately due to the drying time needed with the Ceramic Impressions, Stone Outprints and framed Baby 3D Castings, I cannot complete these orders any quicker than the 4-6 weeks specified.

What Happens If my items are damaged?

I am committed to producing high quality products. I use time tested materials and processes. However, on occasion with the ceramic impressions, 3D castings and Pottery Prints, defects occur due to glaze impurities or material contaminants. If this happens to your ceramic imprint then I will be happy to redo your order at no additional cost. However with the silver fingerprint jewellery range, as all individual pieces are handmade and may vary slightly from those shown. Each piece is cast, engraved and polished to a very high standard. This gives a great tactile quality which is superior to machine made jewellery. By it’s very nature it is organic in look and feel and any irregularities are part of its charm.

How should I care for my prints?

You will enjoy your kiln-fired ceramic prints for years to come. Just like ceramic dishes, these plates need to be treated with care so I recommend not putting the ‘pottery prints’ in the dishwasher. The silver fingerprint charms are crafted from 99.9 silver, which is more pure and delicate than 92.5 sterling silver. As a result care needs to be taking in the day to day wearing of the jewellery so not to scratch it unnecessarily. I recommend using a silver cleaning cloth to keep your jewellery shining bright. This can be added to your order for an additional cost of £3.00.

I want my pets prints done!

If you can get the prints I will turn them into any item from the silver fingerprint jewellery collection or ceramic impressions collection. Pet prints look great as stone outprints too.

Can I cancel my order?

An order may be cancelled prior to the dispatch of the impression kit. At this stage a full refund of any payment will be made. Should the impression kit have already been dispatched the order may be cancelled but a charge of £5 will be made to cover the cost of the kit and the postage. I regret that due to the personalised nature of the range an order cannot be cancelled once work has started on the individual product.
